Happy Spring! A very Dry Spring

Yes this weather is amazing, warm sunny days, with comfortable nights. Windows are open
and a gentle breeze filters through the house. Bees are buzzing, fruit tree buds are bulging some bursting in the hot sun...Daffodils' and Crocus emerge through the soil and pierce dry leaves as they reach for the sky...The grass is greening up and the willow branches are graced in lime green leaves.
But wait...what have we not seen much of? "Rain" March typically can bring rain and snow along with crazy winds. March started off good , a few crazy wind storms but not much moisture...You may want to check moisture beneath that green lawn or your flower & vegetable beds and vessels that have perennials. These plants, shrubs and trees have had a very dry winter & spring. If they do not get moisture soon, it will harm what new growth they have and dry up the roots.
Here on the farm, Many of the perennial herbs popped up in early March, last week they started to look sad, inspected the soil and found it to be very dry. Gave them a nice drench, and boom they are happy! Likewise with bulbs and other plants throughout the garden. Even our lawn has enjoyed being refreshed.
Yup seems to early to be watering our gardens and yard but it is the only way to avoid stressing them and loosing valuable new growth. This year could be a difficult water year for all of us.
Oh and lets Pray for Rain in April!!!
