Our members will receive Assorted Melons, Pears, Tomatoes, Colorful Peppers, Root Veggies - Carrots, Beets, Grn Onions, Potatoes and Garlic. Also Hazel Flowers ! š
Recipes of the week: Quickles! Yup Quickles easy and fun to make out of your bounty.
In a medium pot, 1 1/2 cup water and same of vinegar add 3 Tbsp Sugar + 2 1/2 Tbsp Kosher salt - this is your base for 1 lb of veggies or fruits. Bring to simmer then cool to room temp. In clean and hot jars that you have lids for (they dont need to be canning jars) place your desired veggies or fruits and cover with your Quickle Base-place lid and let stand for 8 - 12 hours on counter then place in fridge. After 24 hours they are ready to have a fun & delicious snack.
IDEAS: using the Quickle Base *Chunks of watermelon + mint
*Cucumber slices, mustard seeds,
peppers & garlic, onion, dill
*Beet slices with Red Onion
*Carrot coins, dill, Garlic
*Cauliflower + cucumber, peppers
Garlic + mustard seeds,
Turmeric, diced onion
PEAR GALETTE: make or purchase pie crust - only 1 crust
Line a round pizza pan with parchment paper, place pie crust ontop, brush with butter sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Slice pears lengthwise (we leave peal on - its pretty) in a circle pattern lay them over laying starting about 2inches from outer edge of crust. Continue till you have a spiral ending in the center. Drizzlewith lemon zest and juice from 1/2 lemon and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Fold the outer edge over its self covering just the edge of pears. Brush folded edge with butter and sprinkle with sugar- add feta cheese chunks and chopped Walnuts or pecans ontop of pear spriral... Bake 400 till crust is golden brown- Serve warm or cold
